About St Ives Cornwall
St Ives is a picturesque town with a beautiful harbour. Once a busy fishing port,
nowadays, tourism is the main industry and it is not difficult to see why.
Amongst cobbles streets you will find Restaurants, Craft shops , Jewellery shops
selling products designed and made by local designers and not forgetting ,
The Galleries.
Art has long played its part in the development of St Ives. Turner painted a landscape
here in 1811.
During the 1920’s ,St Ives became a centre for the arts. Bernard Leach started
pottery here with others following. Ben Nicholson and Barbara Hepworth
arrived and this was the start of the St Ives School.
A new group of artists are making their mark today.
The Tate Gallery and the Barbara Hepworth museum attracts many visitors, as do
our beautiful beaches and wonderful light.
A great place to stay and a good base to enjoy the surrounding areas.
